A Loss In the Sports World

Close to home, this. He wasn't even expected to make the Angels rotation so soon, but the team needed his arm, and last night Adenhart proved his mettle with six scoreless innings. A no-decision, but a big "yes" to the question of whether or not he had the tools to hang in the big leagues.

Then he's gone.

Adenhart's signing with L.A. was a big deal in Hagerstown and Williamsport, much pride and hope for a talented guy that by all accounts was also a decent young man. My deepest sympathies to everyone that will miss Nick Adenhart in their lives.

Life is short.

Drunk drivers suck.

  1. This is just awful. I read over at the LA Times that the guy that was behind the wheel already had been convicted once of DUI and he was on a suspended license.

I wish there was something they could give these out-of-control drunks that if they consumed alcohol, they would just curl up in a ball and die.

  2. All over the Herald Mail today, of course. It was front page when the Angels signed him.

If this Andrew Gallo was driving with a suspended license, well, I'm sure the courts will give him a harsh sentence NOW. I'm all for confiscating the actual vehicles of drunk drivers for a time, forcing them to rely on friends, family or public transport.
